Engaging ourselves in the struggle for establishing truth and justice is the moral lesson of Ashura, says Secretary General

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar said that, there are so many examples in the history of hatching conspiracy against Islamic movement. 10 Muharram, the historic Day of Ashura holds significant lessons for the Muslim communities across the globe. Since the inception of the earth, there are so many events which took place on this day. The tragic event of Karbala is the most painful incident for this Ummah. During the Karbala event, the brutality of Yazid loyal forces and the martyrdom of the grandson of the holy Prophet (pbuH), Hazrat Hossain (RA) took place and set an example for the humanity. But the original history of Karbala has been misinterpreted in the subcontinent. Only expressing mourns are not enough, rather we have to engage ourselves wholeheartedly in the struggle and endeavor for establishing truth and justices. This is the basic lesson of Muharram.

He said this while addressing a discussion as the chief guest in an auditorium of the capital marking the Day of Ashura. Dhaka city South Jamaat organized the program. Jamaat’s central working committee member and Dhaka city South Jamaat’s Secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud Presided over the program. Among others, party’s central Majlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka city South Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary Advocate Dr. Helal Uddin, central Majlish-e-Shura member and former central President of Islami Chhatrashibir Delwar Hossain and Abdul Zabbar, central Majlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka city South’s working committee member Abdus Sabur Fakir, Professor Mokarram Hossain Khan and labor community’s leader Abdus Salam were present on the occasion.

Professor Mia Golam Porwar said, many chronological events of the Muslim community are interlinked with the 10th of Muharram. There are so many things to learn for the Islamic movement’s activists to learn from those historical incidents. There is no room for fascism and tyranny in the basic principles of Islam. Martyrdom is the only mean to encounter the tyrannical rulers who are used to snatch people’s rights away. Still, the same example of martyrdoms is being taken place in many countries. So, Islamic activists have to play pivotal role to free the nation from the misrule and injustice. They have to be stronger and steadfast against oppression and in favor of the truth and justice. But without sacrifice such noble goal can never be achieved.

Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud said, holy Ashura is very significant in the history of Islam. We have to revive ourselves with the spirit of sacrifice and martyrdoms. Our homeland is also badly affected by tyranny and suppression. The government has launched a reign of terror to destroy Islam and Islamic values. Instead of providing safety and security to the people, they are causing disturbance for the countrymen. Under the circumstances, our religious communities must have to be pro-active in order to motivate our nation positively.
