Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said, the day of holy Ashura is one of the most significant events of human history. In particular, the incident of Karbala reminded the Muslim Ummah about a heart-breaking tragedy. On 10th Muharram of Arabic 61 Hijra, 72 Muslims including Hazrat Hossain (RA) the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (pbuH) were brutally murdered. These sacrifices were made to uphold truth and justice and such a huge sacrifice is also unprecedented in history. He urged all to be united against all sorts of injustices and oppressions imbued with the spirit of Karbala.

Jamaat’s Secretary General said this while addressing a discussion arranged by Dhaka North city Jamaat at an auditorium in the capital today. Party’s central executive committee member and Dhaka North city unit Jamaat Ameer Muhammad Salim Uddin presided over the program. Among others, party’s central working committee member and Dhaka north city Secretary Dr. Rezaul Karim, central Majlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka north city Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Abdur Rahman Musa, central Majlish-e-Shura member and Dhaka city North’s Assistant Secretary Loshkor Muhammad Taslim and Jamaat’s central Majlish-e-Shura member Nazim Uddin Molla were present on the occasion.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that, the clash between Hazrat Hossain (RA) and Umayyad ruler Yazid became inevitable as Hazrat Hossain (RA) denied to obey the unjust ruling of the Umayyad Caliph. Face to face war may turn into a disaster, anticipating that tyrant ruler Yazid made a deception. He invited Hazrat Hossain (RA) to Kufa along with his family and relatives. But on the way to Kufa, Imam Hossain (RA) became confined by the hostile forces. Though Imam Hossain (RA) was unprepared but he fought till his last breath and accepted martyrdom with full conviction. Apart from this tragic event, there are many other incidents in human history, which took place on this particular day, he added.

Jamaat’s Secretary General said, Muslim Ummah is forgetting is glorious past gradually. They have lost the traits of sacrifice, justice and sacrifice and right now they are getting involved with self-interest and indulging sensualities. Every positivity has become the prey of the evil forces. Undemocratic and fascist forces are ruling over everything. Even in our country, the fascist government has adopted the strategy of deception and farce in the name of democracy and election. Under the circumstances, to get rid of these dark days, we have to be inspired with the spirit of holy Ashura. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman called upon all concerned quarters to launch a unified effort to resist the tortures and repressions of the incumbent tyrant authorities. There is no alternative but ousting this government to establish peace and justice in the country, he asserted.
