Chattogram regional election candidate’s conference held

Tireless effort is essential for electoral victory: Dr. Taher

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former Member of Parliament Dr. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher stated that tireless effort is essential to secure victory in elections. He emphasized that the responsibilities ahead will demand even greater tests than previous ones, and leaders must prepare accordingly and remain active on the ground.

He made these remarks on Thursday at 3 PM while addressing the Chattogram Regional Election candidates and relevant official’s Conference of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami as the chief guest. The event was held at Safa Arcade in Didar Market of Chattogram city.

The conference was presided over by Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and coordinator of the Chattogram Region Maulana Muhammad Shahjahan. The event was conducted by Maulana Mostafizur Rahman, a member of the Chattogram regional team.

Other attendees included Jamaat’s Central Working Committee Member, Chattogram City Ameer, former Parliamentary Whip and ex-MP Shahjahan Chowdhury; regional team members Professor Ahsanullah, Muhammad Zafar Sadeq, Principal Maulana Muhammad Amiruzzaman, Professor Nurul Amin Chowdhury; Chattogram South District Ameer Anwarul Alam Chowdhury; Chattogram north District Ameer Alauddin Shikder; Cox's Bazar District Ameer Principal Nur Ahmad Anwari; Khagrachari Hill District Ameer Professor Syed Abdul Momen; Bandarban Hill District Ameer Maulana Abdus Salam Azad; and Rangamati District Ameer Professor Abdul Alim, among others.

At the conference, the Darsul Quran (Qur’anic lecture) was delivered by Muhammad Nazrul Islam, a member of the Central Majlis-e-Shura and Nayeb-e-Ameer of Chattogram City Jamaat, who is also an environmentalist.

In his keynote speech, Dr. Abdullah Muhammad Taher further said that Jamaat-e-Islami leaders must begin preparation for the upcoming elections. He highlighted that those who walk on the path of truth are brothers to one another, and this bond transcends all worldly relationships. He warned of the multifaceted crises, confrontations, and both domestic and foreign conspiracies that will emerge around the coming elections — and affirmed that it is the responsibility of the party’s leadership to confront them head-on.

In his presidential address, regional coordinator Muhammad Shahjahan said that public expectations of Jamaat-e-Islami have increased compared to the past. The people of the country now want to see a new direction for Bangladesh and wish to entrust the nation's future to Jamaat-e-Islami. He strongly criticized the Awami League, stating that it has completely destroyed the democratic structure of the country, severely narrowed the political space, and that during their 15-year reign of autocracy and plunder, the sovereignty of Bangladesh has been pushed to the brink of collapse.

During the conference, 23 electoral candidates from the Chattogram region of Jamaat-e-Islami were formally declared by regional coordinator Maulana Muhammad Shahjahan.
