Secretary General at the historic workers' conference in Patkelghata

National Parliament elections should be held using the proportional system, Professor Mia Golam porwar asserts

Parliament elections should be held using the proportional system, said Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar. He made this comment as the chief guest at the workers' conference organized by the district Jamaat at the Patkelghata football ground on January 27.

Highlighting the advantages of holding National Parliament elections using the proportional system, Jamaat Secretary General further said that this system ensures qualified representation. There is no alternative to this system to get qualified members of parliament. Besides, vote-swapping and black money games will be stopped as well in this system. In this system, individuals will not become candidates. It will be determined on the basis of how many votes a party gets, how many MPs will be elected from which party.

He said that conspiracies are also being hatched against Bangladesh from India. Coups, counter-coups, judicial coups, Ansar coups are all taking place. Among these, conspiracies are also being hatched against Jamaat. He alleged that another political party is trying to politically establish the fallen fascists. Professor Mia Golam Parwar said that if Jamaat, BNP and other political parties hold elections together, then Awami League will be expelled from the political arena.

The workers' conference, chaired by Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Md. Mofidullah and hosted by Upazila Jamaat Secretary Professor Idris Ali, was addressed as special guests by Central Executive Council member Principal Muhammad Izzatullah, Central Organizing Secretary and Khulna Region coordinator Muhaddis Abdul Khalek, Central Working Committee member Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Central Shura member Muhaddis Rabiul Bashar, Satkhira Jamaat Ameer Vice Principal Shahidul Islam Mukul, Nayeb Ameer Dr. Sheikh Mahmudul Haque, District Secretary Maulana Azizur Rahmar, Assistant Secretary Professor Gazi Sujayet Ali, and Assistant Secretary Professor Omar Faruk. Among others, the meeting was addressed by District Working Committee member and former Chhatrashibir President Khorshed Alam, Kalaroa Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Kamruzzaman, Keshabpur Upazila Jamaat Ameer Professor Moktar Ali, Maulana Kabirul Islam, Shah Alam, Shibir President Al Mamun, Yakub, Sabbir, and student leader Anwar Hossain.

Golam Porwar said, commenting that some people are speaking the same language that fascists used to speak. Golam Porwar said, their language smells of fascism. They should stop speaking the language of fallen fascism. The people of Bangladesh will never accept fascism. We all want to move on the basis of consensus. For this purpose, the countrymen should build national unity in the spirit of August 5.

He said, the 18-year history from October 28, 2006 to August 5, 2024 was a dark era of independent Bangladesh. In this era, we did not have democratic rights, voting rights, economic rights, and there was no justice for the people in the courts. Our nationhood has been destroyed through the destruction of the educational system . Our Islamic values have been systematically ruined. The murderous fascist Hasina has taken away all our rights in this way. For this, Sheikh Hasina will be identified in history as a heinous and hateful fascist.

Stating that political parties had a lot of contributions to the anti-fascist movement, he said, the last 3 elections were not fair. During the past fascist period, many people gave their lives, many people were killed, and cases were filed. But we could not free the country from fascism. The young students of our country, our children, made that work successful. We are indebted to them. We have to repay this debt by building a discrimination-free Bangladesh.

Claiming that fascist Sheikh Hasina is the mastermind of all the killings committed in Bangladesh in the past 15 and a half years, Golam Porwar said, "The indiscriminate killing of innocent people through judicial killings, and rigging during the day and at night, false cases and harassment against innocent people, and all the anti-human activities that have been committed; everything has been done on the orders of the tyrant Sheikh Hasina."

He also said that all the crimes against humanity must be tried before the elections. We are indebted to those who gave their lives and suffered disabilities in July-August revolution. Their debt must be paid. All the killers must be tried. Jamaat leaders were hanged through a judicial coup. Those who were involved in that judicial coup must be brought to justice.

Commenting on the fact that the people of the country have not been able to vote for the past 15 years, Mia Golam Porwar said, "In the past 15 years, including those who have become voters from the new generation, have not been able to vote in three elections. On the morning of the voting day, when the people were going to vote, the Awami League, Chhatra League, Jubo League, and Police League stood on the streets and prevented them. They said the vote is over, you should go home. Those who opposed the Sheikh Hasina government have been arrested and remanded. Those who have protested against the government have not been given jobs."

Golam Porwar said, they did not give the rights of the people. They oppressed Satkhira. They killed 48 Jamaat Shibir leaders and activists. They violated their dignity. They looted their wealth and turned people into slaves. They did the worst in Satkhira. They bulldozed the houses of numerous leaders and activists, including its former MP Abdul Khalek Mandal, for taking the side of religion alone.

He said, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami wants to build a country where its brothers will be safe at home and abroad. They will be protected at work and on the streets.

He said, the independence of the 24 did not come just like that. On October 28, 2006, the murderers jumped on my children by killing them with a log in broad daylight. That day, Bangladesh lost its way. That lost Bangladesh returned to its path in 2024 after a long journey. A lot of blood had to be shed in the meantime. Jamaat-e-Islami leaders were murdered. Top leaders were brutally killed in the name of judicial proceedings.

In his speech as a special guest, Principal Izzat Ullah said, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists all live in Tala Upazila. We want everyone's cooperation to build an extortionist-free, terrorism-free Upazila. Jamaat-e-Islami is committed to ensuring the rights of people of all classes and professions. He said, the people will not allow anyone to oppress the people of Tala anymore. Jamaat-e-Islami will do whatever is necessary for this.

Muhaddis Abdul Khalek said that the oppressor Sheikh Hasina has destroyed the country and fled to India.

Abul Kalam Azad said that people are dreaming of establishing an Islamic society in Bangladesh.

Ameer of Satkhira Jamaat, Vice President Shahidul Islam Mukul said that even after 53 years of independence, people have not benefited from it. Jamaat is working so that people can enjoy the benefits of independence in the future.

Earlier, at 10:30 am, Jamaat Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Porwar spoke as the chief guest at the women's workers' rally organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in Tala Upazila at the same place.
