Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar, stated that Jamaat seeks to establish an Islamic welfare state in Bangladesh. He emphasized that 2025 would serve as a turning point for the country's society, governance, politics, and the establishment of Deen (Islamic way of life). He added, "The nation is looking to us to build the new Bangladesh according to their dreams. To achieve that vision, Jamaat leaders and activists must work harder. Otherwise, new anarchy could once again drag the country backward. The year 2025 will decide whether we move forward or remain stagnant."
He made these remarks on Friday, January 24, during a public meeting organized by the Shariatpur District Jamaat-e-Islami at the Damudya Hamidia Kamil Madrasa grounds.
The event was presided over by Shariatpur District Jamaat Naib-e-Ameer and Central Majlis-e-Shura member KM Mokbul Hossain. Special guests included Shariatpur District Ameer Principal Maulana Abdur Rob Hashemi and Jamaat’s candidate for the Shariatpur-3 electoral area, Mohammad Azharul Islam. Speeches were also delivered by District Secretary Maulana Masudur Rahman, Assistant Secretary Muhammad Shahidul Islam, District Council members Muhammad Shahabuddin and Qazi Elias, Vedarganj Municipality Ameer Maulana Khabir Uddin Ramizi, Damudya Upazila Ameer Maulana Saiful Islam, and Gosairhat Upazila Ameer Master Belayat Hossain, among other district and upazila leaders and representatives of affiliated organizations.
In his address at the joint rally for Vedarganj, Damudya, and Gosairhat Upazilas under the Shariatpur-3 constituency, the chief guest said, "An interim government will transfer power to the people’s elected representatives through a free, fair, and credible election in the future. This will ensure the establishment of people’s rights and fulfill their hopes and aspirations. Following this, our dream for a welfare state will come true, one based on the principles of the Holy Quran."
Earlier, Professor Mia Golam Parwar attended a gathering at Char Jalalpur in Gosairhat Upazila, organized by Dhaka-based Khulna Club as part of a boat cruise event. Leaders from the district and upazilas were also present on the occasion.
