A meeting of the political committee of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was held on 9th August with its convener and party’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Parwar in the chair. The prevailing situation in the country was discussed in detail in the meeting.
In his address to the committee, Professor Mia Golam Parwar said "Bangladesh has been freed from the dictatorship in exchange for the blood and livee of the students and the people. We are grateful to Almighty Allah for His blessings. We also sincerely congratulate the students for their outstanding roles. We would like to extend our respect and honor to all the students who have sacrificed their lives in this movement and those who became injured. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami always respects and honors the contributions of these students. They will be honored as our national heroes.
The interim government was sworn in on August 8. The portfolios have been distributed among the advisors of the interim government already. We would like to congratulate the Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and all the advisors. They should ensure justice by bringing the terrorists and the miscreants to the book and also by establishing the rule of law, justice and human rights in the country. They also should prosecute the people who were involved with various misdeeds including corruption, looting, money laundering and genocide during the fascist regime.
He further said that we are calling on the people of the country from all walks of life, particularly the leaders and workers of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir to effectively assist the administration in improving the law and order situation in the country. At the same time, I am calling upon the people to continue the role of watchman so that no destructive activities take place in the country. Attacks on people of different religions must be stopped.
Political committee members including Jamaat's Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Assistant Secretary General and former MP Hamidur Rahman Azad, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, Central Executive Committee Member and party's central Publicity and Media Secretary Matiur Rahman Akanda, central Executive Committee member and Dhaka South city Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, Central Executive Committee member and Dhaka north city Ameer Muhammad Salim Uddin were present in the meeting.
