Chittagong region’s Upazila/Thala level leaders’ workshop held

Bangladesh has lost its path; We have to bring that path back through unified struggle; says Dr. Shafiqur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said, our beloved birthland is not well now. It has lost its path and now we have to make a united struggle to bring that back. Coming to office in 2009, Awami League has destroyed and weakened all institutions and made the country a subservient state. He said this while addressing a workshop as the chief guest. The workshop was partcipated by Chittagong region’s thana/Upazila level leaders.

Following the voter-less election of 2014 and another farcical election of 2018, the government has seized people’s voting rights and made this country almost a failure state. Due to massive corruption and irregularities of the ministers and ruling party leaders, severe havoc is created in phases of life. This time the government is mulling holding another farce in the name of election by utilizing its subservient election commission. There is hope at the end of the tunnel as the people who did not say anything about election time fair government, even become vocal this time. But the only verbal position is not enough. We have to make a massive movement to meet our demand for a neutral government. National unity is a must for it. Whether the opposition will prefer an alliance-based movement or a joint movement that is not important now. Unity should be maintained both in programs and thoughts. Ultimately, all quarters should come to one single point. It has been repeatedly proved that a fair, impartial, and credible election is not possible under a political government. The incumbent government has completely destroyed the electoral system. So, no election will be allowed under this government. We firmly believe that the upcoming national election must be held under either caretaker or neutral interim government.

Jamaat Ameer said, if the nation fails to attain this demand, it will bring more darkness, suffering, and uncertainty to this nation. May Allah save us from such a situation. As a responsible and pro-people political party, Jamaat had always been vocal in securing public rights. Similarly, this time, Jamaat is also prepared to make such a critical role. We do not have any other alternative.

Addressing the program, Nayeb-e-Ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman said, Jamaat’s manpower should be purified through self-purification. They should keep away from mental sins like arrogance, ego, show-off tendency, jealousy, vengeance, and self-desire. Jamaat’s Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masud said, the best ever blessings Allah has sent to humanity is His messengers. They taught people how to live. Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon Him) is the last guide. Only the last Prophet endorsed Islam can ensure people’s welfare. As a worker of the Islamic movement, we have to be concerned about dignity and keeping that in mind we have to work sincerely only to attain the satisfaction of Almighty Allah.

Central executive committee member Saiful Alam Khan Milon stated that Jamaat’s history is the history of sacrifice. We did not join this organization to gain any benefit. So, we have to continue our effort by making the highest sacrifices. Assistant Secretary General and former MP AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad said, our goal is to establish Islam in a democratic and systematic way. The systematic way means to create public opinion and subsequently alter movement as per the people’s choice. To achieve this target, we have to strengthen the organization at the grassroots level. Social reform and social activities are required to do so. So, we have to acquire ideas in this regard. Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim said we have to work hard to bring the people under the shadow of Islam. Ignoring the threat in relation to lives and properties, we should be more active on the basis of our religious faith and belief.

Presiding the program, Jamaat’s central working committee member Abdur Rab urged the thana-level leaders to be aware and conscious. He also called upon to bolster the local organizational structure. He said we all should make a combined movement against this undemocratic regime. Among others, Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General and Chittagong city Jamaat Ameer Muhammad Shahjahan, Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ahasanul Mahabub Zubayer, central working committee member Dr. Samiul Haq Faruqee, central working committee member, and regional team member Professor Ahsan Ullah Bhuiyan, Principal Amiruzzaman, Jafor Sadeq and Maulana Mostafizur Rahman addressed the program.
