Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman said that the people of Bangladesh want elections, but they do not want just an elections. Therefore, our main three demands from the interim government are trail of the fascist killers and reform first; and then national election.
Professor Mujibur Rahman made this demand while addressing the district Jamaat workers' conference at the old stadium in Kishoreganj district headquarters at 9 am on Saturday (May 31) as the chief guest.
Professor Mujibur Rahman also said that on May 27, former Acting Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami ATM Azharul Islam acquitted and released. Those forces, who had unjustly killed our top leaders, and who were associated with this killing process should be tried. We urge the government to complete the trail of the fascist killers first, then reforms will be done, and only then elections will be held. He told the people, if elections are held like before, what is the need for those elections? Those were not elections at all. In 2014, there was an election without voting, in 2018, the day vote was held at night, and in 2024, it was a dummy election. Do you know who is looting the country? No one from Jamaat-e-Islami is involved in looting and occupation. That is why we want to run the country according to the law of Allah, InshaAllah. Jamaat is working to establish Islamic rule in the country.
Later, he introduced the candidates of the six constituencies of Kishoreganj to the people of Kishoreganj.
He said, we have been living in the era of ignorance and misrule for the past 17 years. The previous Awami League government committed murder, torture, and oppression. They committed corruption, laundered money abroad, and there is no crime that they did not commit, including enforced disappearances and murders. They hanged the best children of the nation by framing them as false criminals.
Central Executive Council member and Secretary of the Central Publicity and Media Department of Jamaat-e-Islami Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda spoke as a special guest at the conference. The program was presided by Kishoreganj District Jamaat Ameer Professor Md. Ramzan Ali.
Special guest Matiur Rahman Akanda said, those who threats to initiate a movement, and talk about immobilizing the country, have not been able to show the ability to move a truck, full of sands from the house premises of the three-time Prime Minister of this country. Our young people have sacrificed their lives to make a beautiful country free from fascism and neighbouring country's hegemony. The countrymen and politicians should not forget this fact. In exchange for the blood of 1,651 students and the public, and through the injuries and rehabilitation of 30,000 students, youth, children, adolescents, young people and all the people, we have got a fascism-free Bangladesh today. The full credit for this achievement goes to all of them. We respect, honor and salute them.
Mr. Akand further said in his speech that the two regimes of the Awami League have done the most damage to the judicial system of this country. They have destroyed the election system. No one could vote. This electoral system has been written in the grave. If there is another election in Bangladesh without reforming this electoral system, all the dead will come to vote, the living will not be able to vote. That is why we have said that the electoral system must be reformed.
