A delegation from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, led by the party's Secretary General and former Member of Parliament Professor Mia Golam Porwar, held a meeting today, April 9, with both foreign and local investors participating in the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025, held in Dhaka.
The Jamaat delegation included Mohammad Anwarul Islam Raju, Vice President of Jamaat's Industries and Business Division; Dr. Anwarul Azim, its secretary; and Mohammad Masud Kabir, a member of the division.
During the meeting, Jamaat’s delegations engaged in an open and in-depth discussion on the investment climate in Bangladesh, highlighting existing challenges and potential solutions. Investors from several countries, including China, the UK, Canada, and the Netherlands, interacted with the Jamaat representatives and expressed their interests.
Jamaat Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Porwar assured the investors of Jamaat-e-Islami’s full cooperation and support. He invited foreign investors to invest in Bangladesh, stating that their confidence in the new Bangladesh would help usher in a new era for the nation.
He added that if a business-friendly environment could be established and foreign investors could be brought in with confidence, the sacrifices and dreams of many would be fulfilled. He emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami is committed to good governance, integrity, dedication, and to crafting economic and business policies that support young entrepreneurs in achieving their dreams.
He further said that if the people of the country elect Jamaat-e-Islami to power through democratic means in the future, the party would strive to create a corruption-free and inclusive, investment-friendly economy, InshaAllah.
Professor Porwar noted that Bangladesh has a favorable investment environment, with natural resources, ports, rivers, and strategic geographic advantages. Investors at the event mentioned that if these sectors are modernized and processes are streamlined, it could spark an investment revolution in Bangladesh.
Foreign investors expressed keen interest in sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure development, textiles, agriculture, chemicals, education, and healthcare. A senior official from the China Chamber of Commerce visited the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s booth as well.
As a gesture of goodwill, Jamaat-e-Islami presented investors with traditional Bangladeshi items, including the famous Nakshi Kantha. Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of BIDA (Bangladesh Investment Development Authority), expressed his gratitude to Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami for participating in the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025.
