Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “Although the interim government announced to ensure good treatment of the injured along with the ongoing reform process on a priority basis, the treatment as expected has not been ensured. The martyrs and the injured are our national assets. They are our national heroes. No one should divide them on a party basis. We all have a duty towards them and we are all indebted to them. The expectation of this revolution is to eliminate discrimination from society.”
He said these things while attending the “Mass Uprising of Inspiration 2024”- an event organized by Dhaka City South Jamaat-e-Islami on Saturday, December 28, to commemorate the injured and disabled of the July-August Revolution. Dhaka City South Ameer Md. Nurul Islam Bulbul presided over the event which was hosted by party's Central Working Council Member and Dhaka City South Secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, City South Nayeb-e-Ameer Abdus Sabur Fakir and Advocate Dr. Helal Uddin, Assistant Secretaries Muhammad Delwar Hossain, Mohammad Kamal Hossain, Dr. Abdul Mannan and Shamsur Rahman also addressed on the occasion.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "Sheikh Hasina ordered to carry mass killings just to stay in power. When people lose their humanity, they can give such inhumane orders. Jamaat-e-Islami does not believe in the power of one person or one party. Jamaat-e-Islami wants to form a government with the support of all democratic parties. Where no single person or party will have power and influence. If such a government is formed, the nation will truly enjoy freedom. A citizen will get the dignity and rights he/she deserves.”
He requested for proper treatment of the injured. He urged the government to arrange for better treatment in abroad if necessary and assured to extend all possible cooperation from Jamaat-e-Islami.
At the event, the injured and disabled people of the July-August Revolution reminisced. They said, we did not participate in the movement with the hope of getting anything. Rather they participated in the movement to establish civil rights and dignity by forming a fascism-free Bangladesh. They demanded the death penalty for the murderer Hasina and her accomplices for their crime of genocide.
