Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar said, “We are grateful to all the martyrs who freed this country from fascism. We are always with the families of these martyrs. Today our country is free and it must be rebuilt. Those who have been killed in the recent movement are our national heroes. The tears of the members of the martyred family will be restored in history. The people of Bangladesh will read the history of Bangladesh particularly how it has been made free from fascism.”
He said this while addressing an exchange meeting with the family members of the 6 martyrs of Gaibandha who have been killed in Dhaka in the anti-discrimination student movement. Gaibandha District Jamaat organised the program on September 9, Monday. Jamaat's central Majlish-e-Shura member and Gaibandha district Ameer Abdul Karim presided over the program which was hosted by District Secretary Maulana Zahurul Haque Sarkar. Jamaat's Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim and former Amir of Gaibandha District Abdur Rahim Sarkar were present as special guests in the event. Among others, District Nayeb-e-Ameer, valiant freedom fighter Mr. Abdul Waresh, Professor Majedur Rahman, District Assistant Secretary Syed Abdus Salek, District Working Council Member Principal Maulana Nazrul Islam, Maulana Saidur Rahman, Sramik Kollan Federation Gaibandha District President Nurunnabi Pradhan, District Working Council Member Saiful Islam Mandal, Faisal Kabir, District President of Islami Chhatrashibir Omar Sani Akand, District Secretary Ferdous Sarkar Rumman and other upazila leaders were present on the occasion.
He also said, "Those who shot and killed the students and set the bodies on fire must be prosecuted. We want exemplary punishment for those involved in these brutal killings and burning of dead bodies. The people of the country will never forgive those who had established fascism and carried out genocide, hanged Jamaat leaders and disappeared many people. The defeated group of August 5 is taking steps to destabilize the country by bringing some controversial issues in forth including persecution against minority. But the minorities have suffered the most during the tenure of Awami League. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami wants to ensure the rights of all people irrespective of religion and caste. Together with all those born in Bangladesh, we will build a country of peace and harmony, Inshallah.
He said, the fascist Awami government took away our right to speak, and right to cast votes. Sheikh Hasina, the tyrant ruler of the fascist government, have fled the country. Again staying in India, they are trying to make a new conspiracy to create anarchy in the country. These conspiracies will be countered with the general masses. We must be careful that the friends of dictatorship get no chance to obstruct our work. Awami League and Hasina's henchmen led thousands of murders during the student movement. Many of the deadbodies were set on fire. The people of Bangladesh will never accept the brutal politics of Sheikh Hasina and her associates.
He said that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will fully cooperate with the decision of the current interim government to try the murderer Hasina and her accomplices involved in crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Tribunal.
He also said that many people have been killed and many people have been crippled in the anti-discrimination movement of students. The incident of Abu Saeed's martyrdom in police firing has awakened the whole world. Only parents who have lost a child know what they have lost. We can only console them. At the end of the exchange meeting, the Secretary General came down from the stage and talked to the parents and other members of the victim families. He also provided cash support to these families.
Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim said, "Everyone except the fascist Awami League participated in the recent students' movement. Students have rescued the people of this country from a suffocating situation. Fascist Awami government has executed our top 5 leaders including two corruption-free ministers. Other 6 leaders have died in jail custody. In the past 15 and a half years, the Awami government has shot and killed more than 500 Jamaat leaders and activists. Hundreds of thousands of leaders and workers of opposition parties including Jamaat have been tortured. Hasina's government has killed more than a thousand people in recent anti-discrimination student movement and they must be tried for these massacres.
