Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar said, "Fascist Awami government finally dethroned due to intense mass movement of the student community and the general masses. The country is free from dictatorship now. We can live and breathe freely now. The people of the country are dreaming of a new Bangladesh of peace and tranquility, which would be free from exploitation, discrimination, oppression and intimidation.
Millions of people from all walks of life, including students had to sacrifice their lives to make this movement successful. Many students were injured. Many of them lost their eyes and became crippled forever. The freedom that we are enjoying now, it is possible for the courageous steps of the students. What we could not make in last 16 years, this young generation have made it possible.
Professor Mia Golam Parwar said this while addressing an exchange meeting and financial support program organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Jessore City Organizational District. District Ameer Professor Golam Rasool presided over the program. Among others, Jamaat’s central executive committee member and Jessore-Kushtia region’s coordinator Mubarak Hossain, Central Working Council Member Maulana Azizur Rahman, Central Majlish-e-Shura Member and Khulna city Ameer Professor Mahfuzur Rahman, Jessore East District’s Acting Ameer Principal Abdul Aziz, Jessore West district Ameer Maulana Habibur Rahman, Narail District Ameer Advocate Ataur Rahman Bachchu, Shaheed Imtiaz's father Nowsher Ali and Shaheed Tauhidur Rahman's wife Nasreen Sultana and others spoke on the occasion.
Professor Mia Golam Parwar further said, “We have gained this second freedom at the cost of thousands of lives. This opportunity should be used to build the country. We firmly believe that this unity of the students will be strong and we will be able to counter all anti-national conspiracies, Inshallah. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is engaged in the work of building a happy and prosperous Bangladesh free from exploitation and discrimination regardless of caste and religion. We call upon you to fully cooperate with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to free Bangladesh from hunger and poverty.
He said that after the historical revolution of students, it is necessary to ensure communal harmony and a society free from discrimination in order to take the country to a place of meaningful stability and development. The officials of the previous fascist regime, and the then ruling party armed terrorists carried out anarchic massacres in the country must be immediately brought to justice. Rule of law must be established in every sector of the country. Fundamental rights of citizens should be ensured. Officials who had supported the misdeeds of the tyrannical Hasina government should be removed and replaced by honest, efficient, qualified and professional officials. The country's economy must be strengthened by bringing back the siphoned money that the fascists and their accomplices had laundered.
Bringing the flood issue in forth, Professor Mia Golam Parwar said that the so-called friendly country India has turned a large area of Bangladesh into a desert by constructing dam on 54 common rivers including Farakka. Thousands of acres of land in Bangladesh lose crops every year due to lack of water during the dry season. India then withheld water and dried us up. Again, in the rainy season when there is no need for water, India releases water and causes flood in our country. We are shocked by this inhuman act of Indian government. Naturally, the question arises in the minds of the people of Bangladesh, how is India our friend! We condemn them for such inhuman act.”
Mubarak Hossain said, “Abu Saeed, Mughda and other martyrs sacrificed their precious lives to facilitate our second independence. We should honor and remember them properly. The injured should be provided medical care under state management. The disabled should be rehabilitated by the state. The families of martyrs are helpless today. It is the moral responsibility of 17 crore people of the country to stand by them. From this sense of such responsibility, we have come to Jessore. We are going to every family of the martyrs, and we will continue to discharge these duties insha Allah.
