Jamaat Ameer meets martyr Sumaiya’s family; warns against those who transgresses

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman met the family members of martyr Sumaiya who was shot by the police during the recent anti-discrimination movement. He went to Sumaiya's mother's house in Narayanganj district’s Siddhirganj Upazila’s Painadi Doel Chatwar area on Wednesday, August 14. He inquired about them and offered condolences to the bereaved family. He took all the responsibilities of Suaiba, the 2-month-old daughter of martyr Sumaiya.

Jamaat’s Central Executive Council Member and Dhaka south region’s coordinator Saiful Alam Khan Milon, Central Executive Council Member and Dhaka South city Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, Central Working Council Member and Narayanganj city Ameer Maulana Abdul Jabbar, Narayanganj District Jamaat Ameer Alhaj Mominul Haque and other leaders were present on the occasion.

Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, "We came here to see martyred sister Sumaiya's infant child who cannot speak yet. When this child would start talking, she would have nobody to call as mother. Like this child, there are some people who have lost their mothers, those who have lost their fathers, and those who have lost their children. I pray to Almighty Allah to bless them with patience. We are taking all the responsibility of this infant child from now until she grows up."

He said, "May Allah grant them the status of martyrs who had died at the hands of the oppressors. We are requesting the locals not to give any exemption to those who will come to loot and extort. There is no question of concession. This time the people have proved that they do not compromise with injustice. They want peace in the country and they proved it with fresh blood. May Allah Almighty give us that grace so that we can bring back peace in the country.

Now if anyone creates chaos in the area again, it will be a treachery with the blood of martyrs. I am politely saying to those who are involved in these misdeeds, you should learn from your misdeeds. People's pain has not gone away yet. The public will teach those who transgresses.”

It is to be noted that on July 21, Sumaiya was standing on the balcony of the house watching the scene outside after hearing the sound of chaos in the Mizmiji Painadi Doel Chatwar area. At that time, police were firing indiscriminately against the anti-discrimination student activists. Meanwhile, the RAB shot from the helicopter and subsequently a bullet pierced the SS pipe of the window and hit the left side of martyr Sumaiya’s head and she died on the spot.
