Jamaat Ameer urges to observe Human Rights Day with due fervor

Only Islam can secure people’s rights, peace and justice, he asserts

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 9 December 2019 on the occasion of ‘Human Rights Day’ which is going to be observed tomorrow, on 10 December.

“Though ‘Human Rights Day’ is going to be observed on 10th December worldwide, but regrettably human rights are being violated and denied in Bangladesh and elsewhere across the world very rampantly.

The world is going to observe ‘Human Rights Day’ in such a period when crimes like extra judicial killings, abduction, murder, terrorism, rapes, tortures, oppression, bribery and corruption are being exercised under the sponsorship of the state. The people of Bangladesh are genuinely deprived from their rights to cast votes, to hold assembly and to conduct political activities. In words, there are no safety and security of public lives and properties.

The government of Myanmar has deprived more than one million people from their due citizenship rights and forced them to take refuge in Bangladesh. They are leading miserable lives now. Similar types of oppression, torture and mass killings are going on against the Muslims in Afghanistan, Palestine, Kashmir, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Xinjiang province of China. I am urging the peace-loving nations and international forums including OIC and United Nations to bring immediate end to the aforesaid internal and external aggression, military invasion and violation of human rights.

Peace does not exist anywhere now. In this volatile world, only Islam can uphold people’s human rights and dignity. Only Islam can secure human rights and peace. In the state of Madinah, our holy Prophet (peace be upon Him) set a unique example of establishing human rights. The world communities will remember the precedence of human rights which had been established by the holy Prophet (pbuH) and his successor 4 caliphs.

As such, I am calling upon all the concerned to observe the Human Rights Day with a vow to secure human rights according to the spirit of Islam in Bangladesh and other places across the globe.
