Arrest and harassment of the opposition men must be stopped before Ramadan

Ameer-e-Jamaat calls for sincere effort to maintain sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan

Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmad has issued the following statement on 24th May, 2017 urging to make sincere and efficient effort for self-building by moulding a Taqwa based modest character and simultaneously by preserving the purity and solemnity of the upcoming month of holy Ramadan.

“The holy month of Ramadan is knocking our door with the sermon of Rahmat, Magfirat and Nazat (blessings, bounties and salvation). This is the month when the holy Quran was revealed. The holy Quran is the only assurance of people’s ultimate and long cherished freedom. The holy Prophet (peace be upon Him) stated that the first 10 days of this month assures Rahmat or blessings, second 10 days assures Magfirat or bounties and the last 10 days guarantees Nazat or salvation. Amidst the last 10 days, there is a glorifying night, which is better than thousands of night. If an obligatory task is conducted in this month, that will provide 70 times more reward than the performance of the same task in other month whereas the reward for an additional task is equal to an obligatory task.

This is the month of patience and mutual empathy. I am calling upon all the peoples with due solemnity, sincerity, efficiency, dignity and Taqwa.

The holy Quran is the best blessings from Almighty Allah for the mankind. The real tribute towards holy Ramadan can be achieved by studying the holy Quran profoundly and also by taking decision to modify personal, family and national level of life as per the lessons and spirit of the holy Quran. Almighty Allah has made Ramadan obligatory for us so that we can attain the mentality what is needed to be enlightened with the basic teachings of the holy Quran. I am urging all to be more sincere to secure that aim and purpose by observing and performing fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.

It is the duty and responsibility of the Muslims, mostly of the government to stop all sorts of indecency, vulgarism and nudity in order to preserve the sanctity of this holy month. The general peoples are highly disturbed with the massive price hike of the essentials. It is the obligation of the government to control the price hike and also to maintain the law and order situation in a bid to secure public safety. The incumbent authoritarian government is relentlessly arresting, abducting and murdering the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami across the year. I am urging the authorities concerned to stop mass arrest, murder and abduction so that the people can perform fasting of this month safely and peacefully. I am also urging the authority to release all the detained opposition men, particularly the detained Jamaat-Shibir men so that they can perform fasting freely.

I am asking the business communities to show respect towards Ramadan by keeping the price of the essential commodities within the common’s reach avoiding the mentality of gaining excessive profit. Finally I am extending greetings to the countrymen on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.”
