Dr. AZM Obaidullah passed away; Jamaat Ameer condoles

Member of the Central Majlish-e-Shura of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Nayeb-e-Ameer of Chattogram City Jamaat, former central president of Islami Chhatrashibir, prominent cultural figure and intellectual Dr. AZM Obaidullah suffered a heart attack and was admitted to a private hospital in Chittagong at 2:45 pm on May 8. He passed away at 1:30 am on May 11 at the age of 65 while undergoing treatment (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). He has left his wife, 2 sons and 3 daughters, and many relatives. The first funeral was held at the Parade Ground in Chittagong at 11 am on May 11 and the second Janaja was held at 10 pm at the Central Eidgah Maidan in front of Char Fashion Karamatia Kamil Madrasa in Bhola, and he will be buried in the family graveyard.

Condolence

Expressing deep sorrow over the demise of AZM Obaidullah, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the message of condolence on May 11.

In his condolence message, he said, Dr. AZM Obaidullah was a high-level organizer. He was involved in many children's and youth organizations. He has contributed a lot in developing the talent of children and youth and spreading Islamic education. He was very humble, polite and soft-spoken. He could make anyone his own instantly. With his demise, we have lost a dedicated personality of the Islamic movement. He has worked tirelessly for the purpose of establishing a society based on justice and fairness and has contributed a lot in the promotion and expansion of the Islamic movement. I express deep sorrow over his demise.

In his condolence message, he also said, May Allah Almighty forgive him and have mercy on him and widen his grave. May Allah forgive his sins and turn them into virtues. May Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, grant him a high position in Paradise and grant his bereaved family the strength to bear this grief.
