May no one else suffer the same fate as Aasia, may the country be safe for children- opines Jamaat Ameer

Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed deep sorrow over the death of Aasia, a child of Magura, who was brutally raped. In a statement issued on March 13, he said, Aasia, a child who was a victim of barbaric torture in Magura, became a tragic witness to history and left the whole of Bangladesh in tears at around 1 pm on Thursday, March 13 (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). May Allah Ta'ala accept her as his Beloved, Ameen. I pray to the Almighty Allah that He may grant Aasia's parents and all conscientious countrymen, regardless of their own, the ability to bear this grief.

He also said, I demand the highest punishment for the barbaric humans who extinguished the light of this innocent child's life while fulfilling their brutal desires. This punishment for the rapists must be implemented within a maximum of 90 days. Such punishment should be implemented that will be an example for generations to come.

He said, this tragic outcome of Asia has shown us how unsafe our country is for the children. This brutal incident proves that there is rot in our society and brains. Social values have deteriorated. Preventing the deterioration of these values, correcting and reforming the brain is now extremely important. To make Bangladesh safe and livable for our current and future generations, we need to make corrections from our own places as well as build a social movement.

As a part of this, 'Aasia Day' can be observed on March 13. The main objective of which will be to increase awareness among people about the protection of children. Through this, we need to build a society where all people, regardless of children, women and men, will be safe.

He also said, let's raise our voice against these misdeeds personally and socially and organizationally and institutionally so that no more Aasia has to lose their lives due to brutal torture like this.

"I strongly urge the government to conduct a free, fair and impartial investigation into this brutal incident, provide exemplary peace to the perpetrators, and provide appropriate compensation to the family of the deceased child.
