Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Porwar issued a statement on March 1, strongly condemning and protesting the killing of Bangladeshi youth namely Al Amin and the serious injury to Bangladeshi youth Billal in the border areas.
In the statement, he said, “I strongly condemn and protest the killing of Bangladeshi youth Al Amin on the Putia border in Kasba upazila under Brahmanbaria district on February 28 and the serious injury to Bangladeshi youth Billal by BSF on February 27 at the Maheshpur upazila border in Jhenaidah district.
He also said, “We are observing with deep concern that the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) often shoots and kills Bangladeshis without any reason and and seriously causes injury on the Bangladeshi border. India has repeatedly promised to bring the number of killings on the India-Bangladesh border to zero. But despite several meetings between the Indian BSF and the Bangladeshi BGB, the killing and torture of Bangladeshi citizens on the border is not stopped in any way. In the last 3 months, the Indian BSF has shot 8 Bangladeshis dead and injured many others. The aggressive behavior of the BSF has created fear and panic among the Bangladeshis in the border area. Such aggressive behavior of the Indian BSF is an obstacle to friendly relations between the two countries.
He said, the people of Bangladesh always expect friendly behavior from their neighbors. We hope that the Indian government will stop the unwanted killings on the India-Bangladesh border and take legal action against the culprits by conducting a fair and impartial investigation into the killings of Bangladeshi youth Al Amin.
I urge the Bangladesh government to take effective steps to ensure the safety of Bangladeshi citizens and strongly condemn and protest the Indian aggression.
