Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Professor Mia Golam porwar has issued a statement on February 23 demanding a reinvestigation and full probe into uncover the 'real mystery' of the killing of soldiers in Peelkhana in 2009.

In the statement, he said, "After assuming power through a compromised election, the Awami League-led government tragically killed a total of 74 people, including 57 patriot army officers, in Peelkhana, Dhaka on February 25 and 26, 2009. We remember the deceased with deep respect and pray for the forgiveness of their souls. We also express our condolences to their families and relatives.

In the statement, he also said, the fascist Awami government, in order to consolidate power, basically conspired to threaten the independence and sovereignty of the country by killing the patriotic army. The autocratic Awami government arrested many innocent people in this tragic incident and organized a farce in the name of trial. They were sentenced to various terms and kept in prison. Although many were subsequently proven innocent, they were not released due to the conspiracy of the fascist government.

The dictatorship fell in the face of the mass uprising of the student population in August of last year. The country has been liberated from the grip of dictatorship today. The people want to know the real reason behind brutal incident of the killing of the soldiers on February 25 and 26, 2009.

We call for a reinvestigation through an impartial investigation procesa to uncover this brutal 'real mystery', identify those responsible, and take strict legal action against them. We strongly demand the immediate release of all the innocent people who have been detained in prison and also to ensure the rehabilitation of those who have been affected.

On this occasion, we call for discussions and prayer programs to be organized across the country on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami.
