Bangladeshi youth killed in BSF firing; Secretary General expresses deep concern

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar issued the following statement on 7th December expressing deep concern and simultaneously protesting over the unjust killing of a Bangladeshi youth named Anwar Hossain by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on the morning of December 6,

In the statement, he said, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) unjustly shot and killed a Bangladeshi youth named Anwar Hossain in Panchagarh Sadar Upazila in the early hours of December 6. We express deep concern and strongly protest over this killing incident.

We are observing with deep concern that the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) often commits killings without any reason in the frontier areas. Despite India's repeated promises to stop such murders across the border area, the unjust killings of Bangladeshi civilians are continuously increasing. Although the killing of Bangladeshis on the Indo-Bangladesh border has occurred repeatedly, not a single murder incident has been investigated and tried. It is very worrying that the unjust killings of Bangladeshis on the Indo-Bangladesh border have not been prosecuted.

He said, "The people of Bangladesh always seek friendly treatment from their neighbors. We hope that the Indian government will stop the unwanted killings on the Indo-Bangladesh border. We demand an international investigation into the murders of Bangladeshi citizens in the border areas to ensure exemplary punishment of the murderers. We urge the Bangladesh government to take necessary steps in this regard.
