Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 24th November, 2024 expressing deep concern as noted journalist and English Daily “New Age’ Editor Nurul Kabir has faced some harassment at the airport.

“Prominent journalist and English Daily “New Age’ Editor Nurul Kabir made an allegation in his verified Facebook account stating that, he was going to a foreign country to join a media conference on last 18th November. At that time, the immigration authority of the airport harassed him severely. He was kept sitting for about an hour. He mentioned that he was subjected to a similar situation on the way back.

Mr. Nurul Kabir is a distinguished journalist of the country and the editor of English Daily New Age. We are expressing deep concern that a notable personality like him has been harassed by the airport's immigration authority. I am urging the concerned authorities to probe the incident and take legal action against the involved personnel. Besides, I am calling for measures to stop passenger harassment in the airport.
