Acting Secretary General condemns Chhatra League's terror activities nationwide; reiterates the demand of government's immediate resignation

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 4th August, 2024 protesting nationwide terrorism of ruling party's student wing Chhatra League and simultaneously demanding immediate resignation of the government.

"Chatra League has carried out armed attacks across the country on the peaceful movement which has been participated by the people of all walks including students, teachers and parents. They are trying to take the ongoing movement in a different direction by creating arsons and anarchies in different parts of the country.

The countrymen have come to the streets to protest against the government's massacres, mass arrests and issuance of false cases. To the latest, a total of 85 people have been killed across the country today including 6 people in Narsingdi, 7 people in Feni, 22 people in Sirajganj including 13 policemen, 4 people in Kishoreganj, 6 people in capital Dhaka, 4 people in Bogra, 4 people in Munshiganj, 4 people in Magura, 3 people in Bhola, 5 people in Rangpur, 3 people were killed in Pabna, 4 people in Sylhet, 3 people including policemen in Comilla, 1 person in Joypurhat, 1 person in Habiganj and 2 people in Barisal.

People from all levels of the country stand by the students. They demand the trial of the offenders of genocide and and also the resignation of Sheikh Hasina. It is the now the one-point demand of the people of Bangladesh and that is Sheikh Hasina must be resigned.

In the current situation of the country, we appeal to the law enforcers of the state including police, BGB, RAB and the patriotic army, not to take a stand against the people.

I also appeal to the people of the country from all walks of life to make agitating student declared peaceful program successful."
