Jamaat Ameer calls to organize Salat Al Istisqa on 24th and 25th April seeking rainwater as blessing from Almighty Allah

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 23rd April, 2024 expressing deep concern over the ongoing nationwide heatwave and urging the countrymen to perform Salat Al Istisqa for requesting and seeking rainwater from Almighty Allah.

“The weather has become extremely hot due to severe heatwave and in want of rains in recent times. Due to hot weather, people cannot conduct their regular activities properly. In one side, the people are feeling intense hot because of the high temperature, while on the other, the lives of animals became extremely critical due to in want of rain. Only Almighty Allah can give us relief from this unbearable situation.

So far, 20 people have died because of these heatwaves nationwide. (Innalillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). The countrymen are suffering immensely. Particularly, the people of the working communities including farmers and labors have become the worst victims of this severe hot weather. To the latest, on 22nd April, a rickshaw puller has died of heatwave in front of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Several farmers have been died as well.
Cracks are being apparent in the agricultural lands as the land is crying for rains. Severe hot also caused damage to the crops. The animals, living in the forest are also suffering terribly.

To get rid of these intolerable conditions, we are calling upon the religious scholars and the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami to perform Salat Al Istisqa for requesting and seeking rainwater from Almighty Allah. I am instructing all organizational branches of Jamaat-e-Islami to arrange Salat Al Istisqa along with the people on 24th and 25th April.
