Meeting between visiting Commonwealth delegation and Jamaat-e-Islami held in Dhaka

On Sunday (23 November) at 3:00 pm, a meeting was held between a five-member delegation of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the visiting Commonwealth delegation at Hotel Inter Continental in Shahbagh, Dhaka. The meeting took place in a very cordial and friendly atmosphere.

The Jamaat delegation was led by the party’s Secretary General and former Member of Parliament, Mia Golam Porwar. Also present were Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, Central Executive Council member Saiful Alam Khan Milon, Central Executive Council member and Secretary of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Matiur Rahman Akanda, and Supreme Court lawyer and Jamaat leader Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman.

The meeting featured detailed discussions on the need for ensuring that Bangladesh’s upcoming national election is held in a free, fair, acceptable and fear-free environment. Open discussions were also held on ensuring the people’s right to vote, strengthening democratic and constitutional institutions, guaranteeing a level playing field for all political parties, improving the country’s human rights and law-and-order situation, and the constructive role of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in the national election.
