After the tragic killing of renowned journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin in Gazipur, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has stood by his grieving family. On Monday (August 25) afternoon, Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and party’s head of the Central Media and Publicity Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair visited the residence of the slain journalist on behalf of Gazipur City Jamaat-e-Islami to express sympathy and inquire about the family’s condition.
At that time, Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair consoled the family and said, “Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami always dreams of building a just and peaceful society—a society where there is no place for terrorism, extortion, mugging, or discrimination. Through the events of the August 5 revolution, we never wanted to see such a nation. Journalist Tuhin was a beacon of light in society, and his brutal killing has not only devastated his family but has plunged the entire society into mourning.”
He further said, “Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has always stood by the people in every disaster and critical moment of the nation. We will not confine ourselves to this small gesture of support today, but we will continue to stand beside Tuhin’s family in the days to come. The killers of our beloved journalist Tuhin must be brought to swift justice and given exemplary punishment.”
Gazipur City Jamaat Ameer Professor Muhammad Jamal Uddin, Secretary Abu Sayeed Muhammad Faruq, Jamaat-nominated candidate for Gazipur-4 (Kapasia) constituency, Metropolitan Sadar Thana Jamaat Ameer and former Central President of Islami Chhatrashibir Salahuddin Ayubi, Metropolitan Thana Working Committee Member Abu Sina Nurul Islam Muhammad Mamun, and Jamaat-nominated candidate for Gazipur-1 constituency Shah Alam Bokshi were present on the occasion.
At the event, Gazipur City Ameer Professor Muhammad Jamal Uddin said, “Journalist Tuhin was a fighter in pursuit of truth. If his murder is not swiftly brought to justice, people’s expectation of justice in society will be destroyed.”
Later, Jamaat leaders handed over financial assistance of 100,000 Taka to the wife and children of the slain journalist and assured them of overall support.
