Secretary General denounces the false and indecent comment of Obaidul Quader about Jamaat-e-Islami and BNP

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General and former lawmaker Professor Mia Golam Porwar has issued the following statement on 4th June, 2024 protesting and gainsaying the false, ill-motivated comments of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader which he has delivered centering a comment of BNP’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir about Jamaat-e-Islami.

“The indecent and objectionable comment of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader in regards to the relation between Jamaat-e-Islami and BNP is vindictive, illogical and discourteous. I am severely condemning his indecent comment.
In his comments, Obaidul Quader termed Jamaat-e-Islami as anti-liberation and communal force, which is untrue and politically motivated.

The countrymen are well informed that as a partner of democratic movement, Jamaat and BNP have been maintaining a political relationship. Since the anti-autocratic movement of 1983 to 2024, Jamaat-e-Islami has been playing pivotal role in all democratic movements. Obaidul Quader should recall that, during the anti-autocracy movement, 15 parties, 7 parties and Jamaat-e-Islami declared program altogether and the countrymen overwhelmingly implemented those programs. Awami League and BNP had conducted joint movement as well.

Mirza Fakhrul made his observations about the movement and organizational strategies of Jamaat-e-Islami which angered Mr. Quader and subsequently he made some baseless, false and politically vindictive statement. He actually tried to convince his political patrons. Thus, he has lost his own image.

He further stated that, the countrymen know very well that who had grabbed and captured the lands and properties of the minority sections in the independent Bangladesh. Whoever are responsible for foiling the communal harmony, people are truly concerned about them. So, he will not be able to confuse people by making such intentional remarks.

I am urging Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader to take care of his image and also to be refrained from making objectionable and negative comments against Jamaat-e-Islami in the upcoming days.
