10 killed in Mymensingh road crash; Professor Mujib condoles

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 24th March, 2017 expressing deep shock and condolence as at least 10 people were killed and several others injured when a truck carrying them overturned on a road in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh early today.

We are deeply shocked and mournful as the cement-laden truck, carrying them, was going to Sherpur from Dhaka. The truck overturned after falling into a pothole on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Meherabari area that left 10 people killed including 5 of a same family and injured 4 others.

I hope that the government would investigate the incident properly and take punitive measures against the responsible personnel and simultaneously would compensate the victim families and undertake due measures for the treatment of the injured people.

I am praying for the salvation of the deceased and also for the quick recovery of the injury victims. Besides, I am extending deep sympathy to the mournful victim families. I am praying to Allah seeking blessings with tolerance for the victims so that they can hold patience in this crucial time.”
